Lux 12 Call to Arms Lux Series Book 2 eBook Jalex Hansen

This was just as intriguing as the first installment but has a decidedly more mature nature to it making it more appropriate for older YAs. "Call to Arms" has more aggression, several lewd comments and actions (ex: the guard was taking a P - going to the bathroom outside), references to sex (ex: I slept with my commander's daughter 29 times), and swearing. Just warning the discerning parent that it is not as PG rated as the first one.

As in most second books in a series, not too much happens as we are set up for the action for the next book. Lissa and Gideon have taken off on horseback to get to California to see the devastation and to find more of the Lux. Hikari and her group have survived the devastation, but all teenagers are being hunted in the search for the Lux troublemakers on which Senator Angine has blamed the earthquakes. Conner is dealing with the death of Joanne and submitting to Angine's authority, but is inwardly seething and his anger makes his power greater. Angine seems to know this and uses it to antagonize him to use his power - wanting his power to grow. Angine finds another Lux in Africa and makes Conner train him to be a "good tool" for Angine.

All the Luxes seem to understand or see their powers differently. The newest Lux says, "This mark is not a curse. It is a gift from God. The bad or good of a thing is in how you choose to use it. We are all given free will. God would not give you something that is evil. It is only evil if the evil is inside of you". Not all the Lux feel the same way. Hikari thinks of it as an agent of destruction and she wants nothing to do with, Lissa doesn't like the responsibility it brings and Conner sees his power as evil. Not surprisingly, Angine thinks his abilities make him a god. The theology of the Lux series is similar to the theology of The Matrix; a lot of similarities to the Bible which make it interesting and confusing.

There appear to be many more typing errors in this book such as missing small words like "of", "to" and pronouns. Also words like "you" are repeated because the sentence was revised, but the previous "you" was not taken out when another one was added. Not a problem for me though, as I have already downloaded the next one in the series Lux 1.3 Alliance

Lux 12 Call to Arms Lux Series Book 2 eBook Jalex Hansen Reviews

Inexpensive series, that is definitely worth more. The path of the characters takes unexpected twists and turns that make it hard to put down.
Another great chapter of this great series. Suspense and drama, you can really relate to the characters in the book. Really starting to get very action packed as well.
This was a nice continuation to the first in the series. I am anxious for the next book in the Lux series.
It is a good book to share with my teen. It gives us some opportunity to talk about something neutral.
A great story, anxious to read more of the series, but I cannot help but find it very annoying that the editing job is so poor (in every book of the series). There are grammatical mistakes and editing mistakes every few pages, and it really cuts down on the reading enjoyment. I find it hard to believe that both and the author allow these editions to be "Out There" in PRINT.
Really enjoy this series and am looking forward to the continuation. I have just finished LUX 2.1 and am anxiously awating the next installment. Supposed to already be out, but was postponed due to writing another book... BOO. I will still purchase the rest of the series if it comes out. May have to reread the first three to get the story line back and going..
